Clay, Foam, Wire, P5.js

ARTIST STATEMENT:
A woman being restrained and blinded. The sculpture is about 130 pounds of clay, with a foam and wire base. It took about 2 weeks to model, with several structural bumps on the road. The sculpture is held on a podium and attached to the wall with a red film, that encapsulates the entire sculpture. The intention was to have the sculpture on its knees, showing true vulnerability, but still wrapped in a film, showing reluctance and a trapped self. The code featured was made on P5js, called “caterpillar.” It tracks the mouse movement to create circles, and allows the color of circle to be changed by mouse press. This ultimately  the user to outline the sculpture and create light variations on the sculpture through use of a projector.
